I often wondered why so many people live together before getting married if you are sharing everything anyway why not take the vows and legalize the union? Back when I was young living together was viturally unheard of. Now it is very common place. Do you think this is wrong? Even people who have never been married are living together as well. Does this acutally help the marraige, I was wondering about this so I thought I would post this question.

Yes, very wrong. There is no commitment there! None! It's free sex, with no commitment! Yes it is 2007, but we are forgetting our traditions and values and throwing them out the window! I don't think it helps! If you really need to see what it's like living with them, you obviously don't know your significant other well enough to even live with them in the first place. Some say it's cheaper because they can't afford rent, bs, get a different job, wait until you are married. What's the hurry? I don't get it either, I'm only 23 and I strongly believe in sticking with traditional values.

If you didn't live together first? then you might feel as if your getting married to a complete stranger. People just don't trust anybody these days, and probably for good reason! Marriage can be GREAT when you know what to expect from your partner. These days people Fear Marriage due to the lack of trust and the unpredictable stunts that one partner can do to the other. Its sad that Marriage can be thought of as being a Mistake, when were taught in our everyday lives to try and avoid making mistakes.

i lived with my husband before marriage because i was too young to get married when we got together and i was living with a friend and her parents but my friend decided to move out and i couldnt stay there without her so i went to his house to live and we had to wait until i turned eighteen to get married. also i didnt want to marry a person and find out that they had really annoying habits that i couldnt take i am fine with breaking up as boyfriend and girlfriend but once you are married i very rarely think divorce is a solution so i wanted to make sure that i really knew him. All of him

Marriage is becoming outdated. Women have gained economic independence and don't need to get married to start a family and so many aren't rushing to marry either, men just don't want to buy the cow when the milk is free sort of speak. Wrong depends on your morals, that would mean it is different for everybody. I do think it is wrong because it is destroying family values and why that is important is a whole other question.

There is no reason to get married unless there are children in the equation. I DO NOT NEED a piece of paper to validate my commitment. Been there, done that. In my experience, married people get boring with each other, and take each other for granted.
