I'm in the middle of a divorce. I'll be 50 this summer. My kids are grown. I work at home as a medical transcriptionist, but my scheduled shift (mandatory) is 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and I work every other weekend, so I literally NEVER leave my house other than my days off. With that shift, I don't even have the option of taking a class or something, to get my mind off of everything. All of my friends are married, so I have no one to go out with when I DO have the time. I don't see anything hopeful for my future. What are my options? PLEASE...be kind.

You have more options than you know. You may not think much of the personals websites, but the sites do allow you to socialize on line to find a suitable companion. They also allow you to be very selective. There are many people out there that work odd hours and are having the same difficulty. It sure wouldn't hurt to try since going out to socialize isn't a very good option for you.

Yeah, that's a difficult situation.

What about the weekend you DO have off? Is there no way you could take a class or go to a gym etc etc then? Or are you just too tired to even think about it?

I can imagine how difficult it is to just sit there the whole time and have your divorce go around and around in your head. There MUST be something! What about in the mornings before you start working? Maybe regularly going for a walk in the same place?

I don't know - its pretty tricky! No wonder you asked.

There are morning classes that you can take to try and make friends or you can join a gym and go in the morning and try to make friends there. Also there are some after hours clubs that you could try, and use your nights. I realize it's hard with your schedule, but you just have to be creative with your time and use it to the full advantage and find other people who have strange hours, I'm sure you aren't the only one with this problem. Good luck, you will find people.
