Congrats

i have 2 cousins who are brother and sister and they had very large heads when they were born. They did have some extra fluid in there but they were fine. One is now 6 and the other is 12. I wouldn't worry to much if the doctors say everything is okay. I would think they would be able to see fluid on the ultrasound if there was any. Good luck and congrats.

I don't know it may be. My family is from an Asian background and all of our boys had gigantic heads. =) My son didn't have a big head though when he was born so it all depends and I don't think it's in the genes. Good luck to you, as long as that baby is healthy then that's all that matters. Another tip that I want to give you is that to make sure that you don't tear is to have sex often. Please don't take offense to this, I did and never had to get stitched for any of my three kids. My friend wouldn't dilate when she was in labor and the Dr. insisted that the father go in the room and have intercourse with her (I know OMG!) and she admitted that she didn't want to have intercourse while pregnant.
Good luck again!

both my kids had 14 1/5 in heads...with my son i had regular sono's at the end (due to his lack of movement and me being in labor for about 3 weeks before i was induced) and his head was due 3/15 and the rest of him was due 4/29. the doc decided to induce me so that i didn't have to have a c-section, which was at almost 2 weeks early and he still had a 14 1/2 in head...which was 16 1/2 in at 7 days old
good luck

It's not a problem, unless you make it one. Your kids head is just a little big. No big deal. My brothers kids ears always measured small and his ears are tiny. My son has a big head, but it never measured big in u/s. It's not like his head is gonna be way overly sized or anything. Its just gonna be a little bigger than "normal". Whatever normal is!

A friend of mine had a son who had a huge melon. As long as you have had all necessary tests done, I would say it is genes.

Yes, two of my three babies heads were larger. As long as the doctor doesn't seem concerned, it is probably fine. Some people just have bigger heads. :)

That's not really a "problem", that's just a variation on normal. Or you due date could be off. Or do they suspect a genetic disorder?
