Supposedly, she went to see a taping of "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" with tickets that also entitled her to see a dress rehersal of American Idol.
At the dress rehersal, she was so emotional that the producers porposely invited her to see the taping & sit near the front (so the cameras could find her).
Her name is Ashley and she's 13.

That's an easy one to answer.
If you have ever seen any of the old news footage where fans greeted singers etc. back in the 60's and 70's you would see the same thing. Fans, especially female fans, would get very emotional and cry their little hearts out just to be within eye shot of their favorite and that little gal was doing just that.
They showed, at the start of Idol, some news clips from when the Beetles arrived in the States and some fans were crying in that clip.
I was in my mid 20's at the time and saw a lot of that going on and no, I was not one of the overly emotional ones.

I joked earlier about her crying about Sanjaya being so undesirable, yet to be honest, she replaced right into a tender lady so excited and emotional about the finished issue. She replaced into crying considering that he starting up of the practice.

I think she was a little overwhelmed to be in the presence of Sanjaya! She's just a little girl with a big crush...we've all been there! Just not on national TV.

Yeah me and my mom were wondering as well and Ryan, when he asked if they were tears of joy, didn't really introduce her as well (or i missed it). I'm assuming she was just a young fan over run with emotions (much like young fans of the beatles and the backstreetboys once were).
