not true... motor still should be good... other things may be broke, but gotta look into it first. hopefully, just replace timing belt/chain and related tensioner(s) and gear(s) that belt/chain ride on... this is typical for honda engines. kinda pricey ($600 or higher) but a pretty easy fix from what i hear - if youre mechanical, buy a book and DIY for $150 in parts and a weekend :)

The b20a5...which is what you have in your car, is technically a non-interference engine. That means if the timing belt slips or breaks, the valves and pistons won't make contact.

The problem is that with this engine, the tolerance is so close that if it happened at idle, all internal parts would be fine, and a new timing belt would be the solution.

Since you were at speed, chances are that the pistons hit the valves, causing them to bend. Your engine is most likely in need of replacement or serious overhaul.

Do a search for Crate Engine b20a5 and it should bring up a list of suppliers who have them available. Be sure to check warranty information and find all costs you might incur, such as shipping or core charges.

I got my engine from eBay with everything on it and a 6 month warranty for $650 with free shipping by truck to my door. It ran perfect!

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

hondas have what is called an interference motor and 99 percent of time you are guaranteed to have bent a valve and may have damaged the top of a piston or two, replace the motor and if buying a used motor be sure to replace timing belt and water pump before installing

You probably bent some valves.. Unless the car is in really clean condition.. Good paint, low miles, etc.. I think it is time to look for a newer car.

i own a shop, and it probably has a few things damaged in it that's for sure,id check it out ,and if it is damaged id start looking for another engine for it,a good junk yard would probably be a good place to start looking for one, good luck with it hope this helps.
