This is kinda weird but its the truth....I read somewhere that if your baby is spitting up a lot then to boil there water first, so we have been buying nursery water and the first time she had it she didn't spit up. The second time she had it she did spit up. Well than I gave her tap water not boiled and the first time she didn't spit up but the second time she spit up. Is that okay to do? Alternate water?

She is 4.5 months old. She eats only eats 4 oz at a time. She eats all 4 then I sit her up to burp, she burps on her own the minute I lean her up to burp, then she spits up right after she burps.

the spitting up is normal to a point. she could just be eating too much or not burping enough before resuming to eat. you should burp her after an ounce (or 2 when she is older and drinking more) you should also be able to tell when she needs to burp by the way she slows down in drinking, even if she doesn't do this she still needs to be burped.
don't lay her down right after feeding time, also don't put her in a swing , or bounce her. this could cause her to spit up also. you can always lay her in her carrier seat (buckled in and upright) if you want as well.
as for the water, unless your tap water is well water then there is really not too much of a difference between bottled and tap.
if she isn't gaining weight then it is a problem. if it is projectile vomiting then it is a problem. in either of those cases you should contact her doctor asap. you could also bring up the frequency and amount of spit up she has at her doctor visit so that her doctor is aware and watching her weigh gain.
good luck
oh and btw oxyclean works wonders for the formula spit up stains and is safe for a baby's skin (used it on all my daughter's clothes)

All baby's spit up, some just more than others. All three of my kids spit up but my first was the worse, everything that came in seemed to come right back out. If you're going to use tap water, I would boil it for at least 5 minutes first. There are a bunch of chemicals, bacteria, and other agents in tap water so to be safe, boil before using. Now if you really think that it's an issue, bring it up with the pediatrician. The reason why I say this is that some babies are allergic to some kinds of formula so that may be the issue too. Good luck to you and I hope this helps.

It could be a few things. The first and the easiest to fix is how warm you make her bottle. I watch a two month old and her mother had the bottles premade, so they are in the fridge. I boil water on the stove, pour it into a coffee cup and put the bottle in. I then go change her pants, come back and get the bottle and test it. It should be warm, and it will settle better in their tummies. Second, is the brand of bottle you use. Moms love Advent bottles, but I personally think they make a baby very gassy. I used Playtex Ventaire and never had a problem. If you try the other things out and it still doesn't work, try burping her every two ounces. I honestly don't think the water makes that much of a difference, unless of course you have horrible water. Try these out. Good luck!

I doubt that the water has anything to do with the spitting up.
Boiling water does not keep the baby from spitting up. Babies spit up because the sphincter muscle at the top of their stomach is not fully developed, so any pressure on it [such as food, or sitting up, or pressure on the tummy after eating] will cause the food to come back up. If it is excessive and the baby spits up TONS or has projectile vomiting, then it is diagnosed as GERD [reflux], and the baby can take medicine for it. This does not appear to be the case with your baby. I wouldn't worry about it.

All babies spit up a little. That's to be expected. My son used to spit up a lot, so we started burping him when he was half way thru a bottle. After he burped, we'd let him finish the rest of the bottle and then burp him again. It helped a lot. As he got older, he spit up less and less. You also might wanna try a different bottle. I heard that Dr. Brown bottles are really really good for decreasing spit up.

I used tap water for my daughter. When we visited my husbands mom we used bottled water because their tap water is bad. My daughter didnt have any problems with the different waters. If your child spits up a lot, I would recommend having her eat sitting up and make sure you get all those burps out!

I was always told not to feed babies tap water without boiling it first until they were 12 months old.
Babies spit up, some more than others.
Both my daughters were breastfed and my first daughter was a spitty baby. Second daughter only spit up once or twice. Its quite normal. Unless they are projectile vomiting.
Just burb her as often as needed and have a spit rag handy. She sounds like she is just a spitty baby.
I think you should just do one thing and stick to it.

some babies will always spit up no matter what they are fed, some might have acid reflux and might or might not outgrow it in the first 6 months. If the spitting up it's consistent you should tell your pediatrician, who would want to make sure that the baby is gaining weight okay, they even have medicine for it. If it's not acid relfux you should just have lots of burp clothes handy and hope they will outgrow that stage soon.

That's just a myth. In fact, if you boil water you are concentrating minerals, chlorine, and everything else that's in the water which may actually do more harm than good. Water is water, stick with straight tap or bottled.

i never bought nursery water. i just used bottled water, it's practically the same thing. i buy the big plastic container with water and it has a spout at the bottom of it. and when it's empty you can get it refilled with spring water again. i think that is a lot cheaper and lasts longer.
