Personally, I'm a Fender Telecaster man. It's versatile, light, easy to play, looks cool and has a great history.
But there are lots of guitars out there. What;s your pick for the best electric guitar of all time?

The best would be a Fender Stratocaster, imo. It has THE sound, and has made that same sound people love for years! As you said, it has great history, and everybody can own one unlike some other guitars. :P
Practically, though, I would say an Ibanez RG would be the best guitar for me. I own an RG1570, and it's everything I was looking for. It has all the sound you want, just about the easiest neck and fretboard to play on, and still sounds pretty dark while reamining light in weight. It's still the guitar that I most adore, and gets played the most.

Gibson SG is seriously the best overall guitar, especially if you want it light, easy to play, and great sounding humbuckers. As the owner of four Gibsons, and previous owner 3 Ibanezes, I should know after over 15 years of playing. No offense, Ibanez dude, but the SG dude knows what he's talking about. Ibanez's appeal is in their relative cheap price and many professional endorsements. Rock on, all!

The best guitar is the Gibson Les Paul. It is the ultimate rock and roll guitar. All you need is a Marshall amp and you are rocking.

Id say the best made today is a Gibson Les Paul.

im madly in love with my gibson sg...but i also like fender stratocaster and telecaster - probably they are my 3 favorite guitars

it just depends on what type of player youare and what kind of music you play. i like strats... but a lot of people now are liking gibsons and jacksons... Fender will never go out of style. Do we agree?
