I would say that you won't die in your dreams if you hit the ground. Even if you did then you wouldn't be alive to tell anyone, so nobody would know that you did dream it. Maybe you do always dream you are falling and hit the ground before you die...I did read somewhere that many people that die in their sleep had dreams of falling soon before and told people close to them.
Also, some dreams may be like premonitions. If you do a search online for "premonitions" you will find expamples of people that feared they would die. One 18 year old girl had a dream that she would die in a car accident, she felt that it was going to happen so badly that she wrote out a will, leaving the few belongings to charity.
"Famed blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan also had a prophetic dream, which he related to his bandmates a mere 20 hours before his death in a helicopter crash." (Wikapedia, Premonition)
On the good side: A man had a dream while he was sleeping on a flight, he dreamnt of six numbers. He used those six numbers and won a million dollars in the lottery.
The only question is; would you give in and believe in a 'dream' if you felt a strong sense of it becoming true, or would you push it behind you so that others didn't think you were crazy. If I had a dream of a crashing plane before I planned on flying I can tell you exactly where I WON'T be. =P

One night some years ago, I was sleeping on some satin sheets I got as a present (Highly overrated - hot and too slippery, you always feel you are about to slide off the bed). Anyway, I was on my back, and with leg bent, so my right knee was facing upward. Then my bare foot slipped on sheet and my leg fell flat down, level with the other one. I awoke with a start, and in my dream of that instant, I had been walking down some steps, and missed the last one, causing me to stumble. That was how my brain interpreted what had happened to me. I have noticed many times that the sleeping brain will interpret things that happen to you in ways that it can understand, from prior experience.
No. You won't die if you hit the ground in a dream. People often dream about falling, because for one thing, that is a common fear. They rarely dream about hitting the ground, because serious falls are rarely experienced.

It can never actually happen that you hit the ground. The dream of falling is itself the mind's reaction to the automatic paralisis of the body while asleep. Therefore 1 this reaction can only take place while you are already waking up 2 you will never hit the ground because that does not have it's counterpart in reality.

The matrix explored something like this with morphius telling neo that if the mind died the the body would too.I think that if you mind believed it strongly enough then it might shut down leaving you in an apparent coma, not dead but no brain activity. On the other hand your mind can possibly tell that the situation is not real and therefore does not shut down or else as your mind has never experienced death then it does not know what to do when it perceives you dying and just continues on as normal

Na, You would usually wake up before you hit, but if you did hit your mind would write the dream script in such a way you would come out of it A OK! After all in a dream anything can happen.

No, my friend...! You will feel like entering your body in a strong jerk if you land. That's what happens when you're a kid. Remember? Those falling into your body dreams?
It's when you really let go and relax and trust life. And you can, cause the worse that can happen to you is be really alive and present inside your body...

In general, this is just garbage. I'm sure someone, somewhere at some time frame did in fact die after falling in a dream, but there would be no proof - zero - zilch.
My thoughts are that someone has recently seen the movie "Sublime".

stay calm ,not it is not true, however when you brain reflects
the falling in the dream, can be as results of various factors
like, you are in an alpha stage, and somebody is trying to
"wake you up"all of the sudden so its the reaction of your body sending a signal to your brain, then you wake up ,but
with an "unpleasant" sensation, another reason would be
you where in an astral projection and when 'returning '
it made you felt like that.other factors would be the
worries of the mind, then it would be a reflection of your worries of the everyday life and the significance you put in them, resulting in a continuous trouble in your mind, and when your are dreaming, you are not resting at all, your mind
keeps bringing the stressful situations only represented
in dreams, however those are practically nightmares.!

nope..but intense shock to the brain... i once jostled and sprang to feet when i fall (in the dream)... due to reflex action, no one can really dream of them falling and touching the ground as the body will move and you will wake.. (unless the person dreamt that everyday and have conditioned reflex)..
i thought stroke and heart attack are caused by blood clots in brain and heart respectively... =.=|| shock does not cause them ^^
