I will save the rant on how horrible IE is and just say that it is ruining everything I'm trying to do. Since it cannot connect to the internet, I am unable to interact with Fulltilt Poker (depositing money and whatnot) and I cannot use MSN messenger (now essential to a new job I have). When I open up IE, I simply get this: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. There might be a typing error in the address."

I can use all other browsers (firefox, etc) and have even tried taking down the firewall. I also checked for spyware and my computer is clean. I have tried installing the newest version of IE but that one doesn't work either. Is there some little setting I don't know about that will make my IE work again? please help!

According to your description, there are some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "IE error".You need to clean you computer.
Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner.Good Regisry Cleaner will fix(NOT hide) almost all computer errors (contains yours),improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!

goto c:\windows\system32
you'll find a file ie.inf
insert you xp cd and right click on this ie.inf and click install and this should six the problem if not try getting ie from microsoft and reinstall that's it
hope you get back to work
and if you dont get the above right you could always go for other browsers like:
opera(quite fast in downloads)
flock(similar to ie and opera)
avant
firefox(you have it right)
and you've got lots more on download.com just go down there and take it.
