I didn't check the fuel average when I brought a pre-used Honda Accord EX - Manual Transmission (1996 model) around a month ago with 94000 miles on it. 15 days ago I got the timing belt replaced. Today I checked the fuel average & found that I am getiing only 18 miles/gallon in city condition. What could be the possible reasons for getting such a low fuel average?

Sounds like you could use a tune up; but isn't 18 mpg about the average for that vehicle in a city driving situtation. It looks pretty good to me for that old a model.

every three fill ups u should fill with premium gas, the higher octane actually cleans ur fuel injectors. Change all ur filters, gas, air, and oil. Change ur spark plugs. Getting a performance intake, manifold, and exhaust will also give u better gas mileage.

tips:
less engine resistant = more mpg..
bad/expired engine oil can get sticky inside your engine moving parts that cause reisistant ..
having the air-cond switch on also make ur engine in loads end up in resistance..
when the engine have do to more jobs it will need extra fuel..
