Oh and can you take it out for a couple of hours and then put it back in?
Whats better to get put in first a ring or a stud, can you get a retainer put in first?????

Yah, it is gonna hurt, but after two weeks it shouldn't be swollen anymore, but it will be sore still and will most likely still need to be cleaned regularly and taken care of (it won't be healed within a two week time period). I wouldn't recommend that you take it out at all for at least a few months unless you want it to heal over. I don't think you could take it out for even an hour after two weeks. I would start out with a ring if I were you (more room for swelling) and I am not totally sure, but I don't think they will pierce it with a retainer.

I have had my lip done for a little over a year. I love it, but you need to realize that it is a very visable piercing. It sounds like to me that you don't always want it to show, and if that's the case I would suggest that you look into getting something else pierced. My piercer would tell you that ANY piercing can heal up within a very short time period no matter how long you have had it done. Your lip is thick and will take a long time to heal (mine took about 2 1/2 months before it was totally healed).

Oh yah, and I must add after reading the other responses. I don't think I look low class at all thanks, I simply look like I have a lip ring. My boyfriend also likes it just fine, it is unfair to say that all guys dislike lip rings, it is simply untrue.

2 weeks is not enough time to have it heal. It'll still be swollen, though it may not be sore then. Yes, it hurts a lot (more than any of my other piercings). No, you can't take it out for a few hours and put it back in until it is fully healed, especially not at the beginning. I had mine for over a year and after taking it out for a few hours it started to close up. 2 weeks would definitely not work, nor should you think about it since it'll just ensure an infection.

Most jewelers will only pierce with a ring since it is easier to clean and it gives plenty of room for swelling. You should never put a retainer into a piercing until it is fully healed (for a lip ring, about 6-8 weeks).

It should visibly heal within 2 weeks. It honestly shouldn't swell, if at all. If it does, icing it usually helps alot. Just keep up the care on it and no one will know how new the piercing really is.

I wouldn't recommend trying to take it out until it heals completely. If you do, you risk infecting it, or worse, losing the piercing all together. Let it heal for 6 weeks and then change it. I'd suggest a ring first because it's easier to keep clean b/c you can rotate it. You can't get a retainer put in first b/c its made of plastic and there is no way the piercer can properly sterilize it to initially pierce you. Its unsanitary, besides, why would you want to hide your new piercing?

It doesn't hurt all that much. Remember when you bit your cheek/tongue/lip accidently as a little kid? It's like that.

You can get pierced with a stud or a hoop. If you get a stud, your preliminary jewellery will likely be lengthy to house swelling. Once the swelling is going down, you'll cross get it switched to a smaller dimension. Studs are bigger besides since they may not be bumped round up to a hoop and can heal less difficult. I have got 17 piercings and I notion my lip used to be one of the vital least painful.

It didn't hurt me to get it done and after 3 weeks youll be able to take it out and put it back in. The best thing to put in first is the stud it's more managable and dosn't get in your way cause if you hace a hoop in it will get irratated and easily get's infected. And i am not too sure about the retaner. BUt that's all the info i have for.

It will wreck the hell out of your teeth. I know tons of people that have had to have their teeth removed because it damages so much.
