i asked that same question and got booted .
anyway i looked into it and it seems they dream not of visions unless they have some sight as some blind people do . they do however have dreams that involve smells sounds touch wind heat all of that just every sense but sight seems many doctors and smart people have wondered about this too. i will never know why i got booted for the exact same question.

First most Blind people are not totally. They do see things at different levels. I did have a friend that was totally blind and could not see anything. after a long talk and it was very interesting, I asked him "what do you see" and after a long explanation of the sight nerves still being active, He said " for a sighted person to imagine what a totally Blind person sees, what do you see from the back of your eyes"...Think about it...but to answer your question a bit more. They dream about the same things sighted people do. Like all people the imagination is very powerful and with the enhanced senses they have ...They see as you do in thier dreams.

People who have "always" been blind, cannot have visual imagery in their dreams, as they have no concept of the visual. Yet of course, they can dream ANYTHING else that others do, & often with more heightened awareness of their senses. A wonderful thing, is that people who have lost their sight, (not born blind) can relive it in dreams. Isn't that great? A world in which they can actually see again? I've seen a question similar to this somewhere before..

Bravo, be great to ask next time I'm around one. This is what I found
What Do Blind People Dream?
Those who are born blind or become blind before the age of five do not see in their dreams. Nevertheless, their dreams are just as rich in narrative and detail as in sighted people. If one's sight is lost after the age of seven, dreams will still brim with visual imagery. A grey area exists between five and seven years.
Interestingly, those rapid eye movements (REMs) signifying that a dream is in progress do not occur, or occur very weakly, for those born blind or blinded before five.
How about congenitally deaf people? It appears that they may dream in sign language! Their dreams are also more colorful than those of people with normal hearing.

Hi Carpee7,
What they see in their dreams, depends on "how much" they could ever see.... If someone has been totally blind since birth, they only have "auditory dreams".... If someone, has had a measure of sight, then that person dreams with that measure of sight.... They still dream as though they can see, colors included.......
>>>>>>>>>
Just by feeling something, they have a distinct thought in their mind.. of what it looks like.... They can also dream of different shapes and colors, because of the imagination section of their brain....
However... they don't see in there dreams, they feel it, if a blind person were to dream that they got punched in there right arm, in the dream they would feel that pain.....
>>>>>>>>>
However, those blind since birth or very early childhood, have no visual imagery in their dreams.... Instead, they experience a very high percentage of taste, smell, and touch sensations in their dreams.....
>>>>>>
Thanks, for the question! :)
My regards!
Take care!

From what I've been told they do dream but in a different way. Through sound and not images. Deb

Interesting. Dunno, but I'm sure they do, even if just of sound, feel, taste, smell.
