Is it possible to hook up more than one thermostat on different levels of a house without a Zone system? Idea i have is one in the basement, one upstiars and when either one needs to adjust the whole system comes on.

Yes you can as long as you hook them in parrallel and make sure when you change over from heat to a/c that you change both thermostats...with a system like this it could get to cold in the basement during summer and too hot in house during winter or vice versa

yes u can but relays would need to be installed to prevent both modes from operatingat the same time. two level homes are very difficult to maintain and constantly flipping to cooling and heating would happen with this set up. run your fan all the time to help circulate and mix the differant levels. I do not recommend two tstats without some type of zoning system. tryu a averaging system and see if u can find a comfortable middle

Yes you can but the last unit I worked that was set up like that died a miserable death.The heater and the a/c were running at the same time.

it is ok to do just keep the wires the same. thet are just a switch like on a light
