There are already things similar....

If you mean will there by highways in the sky and average people driving cars that can fly... very unlikely. It is almost impossible to have the accuracy and safety of a normal car if you try to make it fly. Also, it will be more like a helicopter or plane than the futuristic cars you see on tv.... it takes wayyy too much energy to lift a car off the ground like a rocket... and it is very hard to control such energy... and it is much too dangerous. It's not happening.... cars will always be on wheels.

Yes, but driving as we know it will be dead. Flying cars will be guided by GPS and computers, not human steering. But before then, robotic cars will take the road. The first robotic street race is taking place in the western part of the United States in the fall. The top two challengers are a Passat being developed by Stanford University and a Chevrolet Tahoe being developed by Carnegie Mellon University and GM. The cars will have to follow all traffic laws, including traffic lights, and not hit other vehicles, including parked vehicles and other race participants. Should be interesting. The race is being sponsored by DARPA, the research and development arm of the U.S. military.

There will be a flying car like something we see in the Jetsons. However, it won't replace regular cars for a while because many drivers have trouble navigating with other cars to their left and right. Imagine the accident rate if these poor drivers have to worry about cars above and below them.

We'll see a hovering car before anything else.

We have too many idiots on the road and now you want them in 3-D ??

There probably will but I don't think I'll live that long to see it. We are pretty far away from that. Instead, maybe we could have 300mph trains, that would almost be as good.

If you want to fly then get or build a helicopter.

truthfully there probably will be one some day,we maybe too old to fly it,but we might see one in our life time, but that's going to be a trip to do,just think about it they way people drive now, turn them loose with something that will really fly,and they,d be more head on air collisions then you can count,i wouldn't want to meet some of these people in the air that's for sure, good luck hope this helps.

The delorium (Back to the Future). Apparently there's a whole stash of them at the bottom of the Atlantic. Just make your own adjustments.

Unless we kill each other in the next 100 years, I'd say yes...

but people have a lot of trouble navigating in two dimensions... It's going to be very dangerous unless we have sophisticated autopilots.

Of course, check out Thelma and Louise, the take-off is poetic but the landing needs to be refined.
