my son is required to know some words for kindergarten. words like man, are, the, etc. some of them he can get but others like the word me (which the e is not pronounced as other words) is hard for him to get. for some reason he thinks that just because some words have the same letters he can just blurt out any word with that same letter. i have no idea how to help him out and apparently his teacher isnt doing her job. please help someone

Try the list of 500 most common sight words for grade school. You can make these in to flashcards and have him practice them. Have play for rewards. If he can read the word give him a sticker, a grape, a penny, or whatever might be a good reward for him. The list of words can be found at this site:
