Because they see the after world as a better place for spiritual enhancement. But mostly because I think they want to be more focus on their spiritual advansment thand the acquisicion of material things.

Hindus desire liberation to realize their true potential. in hindu there is a belief that atman is brachman which roughly mean you are you own God. Also hindus do not actually require liberation because they're life is continuous forever, they are reincarnated over and over again to get it right but obviously people transgress so they're religion basically says that this goal is impossible to reach.

Because existance is a joke you´ll only get the punchline when you liberate yourself from it. Then you´ll laugh instead of crying.

For the same reason Christians seek to be in the "Kingdom of Heaven"... Its better than here.

They want to be free of pain and suffering, sickness and death; they want to join God and become part of heaven.
