My daughter's birthday is coming up and I am at a total loss on what to get her. She isn't walking yet due to low tone and some sensory issues (she fears falling and has to hold onto something for security) and is at about the 12 month level as far as her fine motor skills go. She is currently in early intervention for this. She, too, will not sit on a toddler sized chair or anything that you ride on as her feet don't touch the floor. She already has a mountian of books (she loves books for than toys and is really inquisitive) and doesn't comprehend coloring yet or scribbling. She, too, has three or four dolls (one is Elmo and the other is Ernie, plus one that you feed with a bottle) so she doesn't need anymore. So far, I have Disney Princess plastic tea party set. Any ideas?

She has push and pull toys, an activity table, the entire Baby Einstein DVD collection....no, she's not spoiled. She has seven close relatives (aunts, uncles, grandparents) that buy her tons of stuff!

I forgot to mention that I'd like something memorable and that will last a long time. I'm not crafty, so don't say a scrapbook.

my son has autism and just turned 3. have you tried like a bouncy ball so you can gently bounce her up and down on ?( you would hold her waist and help her bounce, slowly to start off with. ) i put an exercise peanut from target and thats what I use. good luck!

How about any sensory toys that will spark her creativity and reflexes...my daughter at age one and two adored a light up shape sorter that had sound and music...or v-tec toys for babies..even lil' people would be fun ...my daughter loved them (and still enjoys..though now has a big doll house so it has lost it's novelty) I hope you enjoy her birthday, and do not worry, I am sure, especially since you have applied early intervention, that your daughter will flourish! Much Luck :)

I agree with the walker there was one we got for my god daughter. It has three sides and is almost like a walker for older folks we got it at Toy r us. Tyco made it. Also call toys r us they have a toy book for special needs kids. My sister in law also put a Bar system on one wall in the living room for her to hold onto. Like you seen in Nursing homes? Theresamarie walks fine holding on to that. Check out Right Start on line as well. Happy Birthday to your baby.

Why don't you get her one of those walkers where you could put her in there, and it has a net in case she wants to sit or if she wants she can walk. Her feet would touch the ground the whole time.

I personally stick with building blocks and BIG legos. I have found the Lego's in a cool carrier, ie; dump truck, fire truck, that can be scooted, dragged, and pulled along.

Hope this helps some. Happy Birthday hugs to your little one!

Does she watch movies because any muppet movie my baby loves to watch. Also maybe a block type toy that you put objects in the apropriate hole like the square shape block goes in the square shaped hole etc.

How about a dolls pram, she can hang on to it to feel secure walking and play dolls at the same time.
