Switch off and remove ALL electrical appliances, Okay, so how do we wash clothes then, BY HAND, that’s an increase in usable power for a start?
That’s all so an increase in detergents going into the waste system, that’s increase the power used in the sewerage works.
No music, no TV, no NET, keep the populous think and in the dark, the government can then do all the things they cannot get away with now.
NO HOLIDAYS ABROAD, unless you row there or just holiday in Britain, but how when you do not use a car now.
Oh and the out of town shopping, now how would you do that, plus it would not be fresh delivered to the shelves by horse and cart?
DARK AGES, are they truly think or just think we are???

I'm with you. I think we should start from the top down. If the politicians won't sacrifice first and show us how it's done, how can we??? After all, haven't they been telling us for the longest time just how dumb they think we are?

Come on, don't be ridiculous, that isn't seriously what people are asking you to do. Open up your mind for a brief moment, and have a look round your house. How many lights do you leave on when you don't need them? How many times do you leave your computer or your TV on stand-by when you could turn it off? It's little things like that that start adding up, and you'll notice a significant decrease in your electricity bill, too, so for all the ignorants that think everything should always be about money, that should serve as an extra incentive.
With holidays, the biggest problem is domestic flights. Try taking the train if you're holidaying in Britain - better view and less pollution. And what's wrong with buying organic, locally-grown produce? You're supporting local farmers and diminishing the quantity of emissions given off by transporting the food.
For heaven's sake, carbon emissions are not 'rubbish', it's pretty obvious that large vehicles give off huge quantities of carbon and that it's detrimental to the environment. I realise it can sometimes seem like the government is trying to cheat you, but just try and ignore the close-minded politicians with their own agendas and look at what you can do to help the world. And, it can seem like people are hypocrites for telling us what to do when they don't seem to conform, like Al Gore, but would things really be better off if Gore sat at home with the lights turned off, instead of flying around the world? He has a message that needs to be publicised. His flights are worth it. Other people's aren't necessarily.
Anyway, if people take the attitude you're taking, you'll get Dark Ages soon enough.
Oh, and for some of the other answerers, there was never a scientific consensus that we were heading for another ice age. In any case, as time passes, science gets more sophisticated. Would you refuse to take certain modern medication, just because you know that in the past they would have used leeches?

Considerable research is being undertaken on the impact that waste treatments have on carbon emissions. As a result of this a clearer picture is now emerging on how different waste treatments impact on climate change. As a response to requests from the public, the West of England partnership has sourced a range of responses.
The reports (from the Resource Recovery Forum members ERM and Eunomia) anticipate the greenhouse gas effects of the UK’s main waste streams between 2005 and 2031 and assess the different ways of dealing with household, garden and food waste.
Findings show that some materials and management routes have the potential to increase greenhouse gas emissions, while others generate savings in the use of fossil fuels. Although there are a number of uncertainties, the largest potential, over and above current recovery efforts, is with regard to:
energy recovery via anaerobic digestion of agricultural manures/slurries
energy recovery via combustion of waste wood
recovery of both resources (through recycling) and energy (through combustion) from waste paper and card
recycling of non-ferrous metals.
Zero Waste is a new approach to the flow of materials and energy. It considers the life cycle of products as well as the reuse, recovery and recycling of resources in a manner that is cleaner and more efficient. The Zero Waste approach recognises the connections between materials, products, and infrastructure to ecological functions and services provided by the natural environment, and is being promoted in a number of countries including New Zealand and Canada.
Zero Waste is not only about recycling and diversion from landfills. It is also about restructuring production and distribution methods to prevent waste from being manufactured in the first place. Whatever materials are still required in a resource efficient system will be recycled right back into production. Zero Waste is a policy, a path, a target. It is a new way of thinking. Most of all it is a vision. It represents a new approach to planning encompassing the principles of conserving resources, minimizing pollution, maximizing employment opportunities, and providing the greatest degree of economic self-reliance.

Be serious, just check your carbon footprint and see where you can cut back.
You probably can't remember pollution so bad you had to pull over on the highways, or pollution that would dissolve nylons off of womens legs. That happened here in the midwest USA in the fifties and sixties. We all made some changes and things got better, no dark ages just cooperation and common sense.

It IS all rubbish. Only 0.5% of the carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere comes from humans. And here's the killer; carbon dioxide is a naturally occuring gas! We expel it every time we breathe out. So don't worry about leaving on lights and computers etc. The whole thing's a con to make us pay more tax.

Politicians jumping on a band wagon, and finding an other way to Tax you. Judge them by there deeds not there words.eg digital television sell off the analogue airwaves to the phone companies for billions (which the consumer ends up paying for &vat) then you have to buy a new television or a set top box all which use energy to produce. Tax incentives to the motor industry to build factories to make more cars which they dont want us to drive?

Tesla invented a far better energy source that would cost next to nothing. Other inventors have found great sources as well. It's a corporate thing. They kind of want our money. No one wants you to go without...just differently. Someone has to stand up and say SOMETHING. Do you REALLY wish to squash it blindly?

You are obviously too young to remember anything. Ask the adults in your life, they will explaine it all to you.
Individuals can no longer be self sufficiant, which is a shame but that is all to do with government, not individuals.
The world is going down the pan, and computers will not work down there!!

Gore is a criminal for pulling all this rubbish. He is the one pushing all this humans causing global warming crap and just conveniently is the main owner in a start-up company that sells "carbon credits" LMAO. I'll tell you what. I'm a farmer and grow 6200 acres of crops, they displace a lot of carbon. I will sell you credits for half price! Get em while they are hot!
