Little children usually get up early in the mornings yet they dont have school until 9:00am. But teens who have been proven scientifically to not think their best in the morning and usually tend to sleep late have school at 7:00am. Doesn't that seem backwards to you?

Well, teens (like myself) have a chemical in their brain that makes them stay up later... they cannot fall asleep as early as they would like. But I am up now... I wish I can go to sleep... I will be wide awake if I try to sleep. Trust me, teens wish they can get more sleep, but we can't get to it... And my alarm goes off at 5:41 AM... I should try to go to bed... This is it for me tonight! Buona Notte!

It sure does seem backwards. The Board of Ed in my area is actually thinking about having the younger kids to go school earlier and the teens go in later. Which makes sense to me.

Yes it does seem quite backwards and as a mother of a teenager who is sooooo not a morning person, I really think she would do much better in school if she could start later.....things being as they are though, she may get her wish if our school district doesn't get its act together and pass a feaking levy SOON!

You got it wronge! School starts later as you get older! In elementary school started at 7:45am, Joiner High 8:15, High school 8:45(I think).

i think that middle and high schoolers should start school at like 1 and go for the rest of the day but yeah thats never gonna happen

Yes it does. I think the reason why it was set up that way was so the older children could be home before the smaller ones to help watch them, but I could be wrong.

well there was a study thingy I read saying teens have their own alarm clocks so it doesnt matter how much sleep they get usually since theyre bodies are going through everything

Everywhere I've lived elementary school kids go to school earlier than high school kids.
