It's on April 8th this year. Greek Orthodox and the traditional Western Easter Sunday fall on the same date, which is not often the case. Get your Easter Basket ready, you just have 2 weeks!

The Catholic Church set up this formula to mark the holiday in 325. It cannot be earlier than March 22 or later than April 25 using the following rule. Easter falls on the first Sunday following the first ecclesiastical full moon that occurs on or after the day of the vernal equinox; this particular ecclesiastical full moon is the 14th day of a tabular lunation (new moon); and the vernal equinox is fixed as March 21. It is easiest to just check a calendar, and find out that way. This year it is April 8.

The way I remember it is that it is always the Sunday before I go back to school after I go to spring break...so it's on...April 8th. The way not to forget it is to remember that it falls on the second Sunday of April each year, regardless.

April 8th is the time for Christians to celebrate the life and resurrection of Christ. And a time of chocolate bunnies, marshmallow chicks, and colored eggs!
