The only one that really makes any sense is "c. To prevent the need to pay other employees overtime to make up for the loss of production caused by the absentee.

At one time, large employees would hire more than they actually need, because somebody was always taking off, If everybody showed up for work they wouldn't know what to do with them.

Now, with the high cost of fringe benefits this is something no company can afford to do.

Most won't hassle you about a valid reason for taking , but they want to minimize, "mental health " days.

I agree with the other poster-"c" is the general reason. My husband owns a business, and it creates a huge inconvenience (and cost) for other employees to cover for someone who decides not to show up for work. Unfortunately, if you don't keep the rules strict, employees will walk all over the owner.

none of the above ..........in the old days if you didn't come to work you got fired unless you were really sick. Now people go to work when they feel like it. Remember when you were in school ? How would you have liked your teacher to call in sick 3 days a week randomly every year you were in school ? Would that have been good for you ? NO. For an employer, they want consistency because they have to rely on people . It is called INTEGRITY.

c is the best answer among those given. In general, it complicates scheduling so as to have the right number of people on hand to do the work.
