1. If it claims to be "brand new" and costs less than $300, most likely it is fake.
2. If the "LV" logo is upright on both sides, it might be a fake.
3. If the piping is not leather, it is fake
4. If the seams are uneven, frayed, the monogram is off or the bag is poorly sewn, it is definitely fake.
5. If there is no date code (a.k.a date number) provided or if the seller is reluctant to provide a date code or receipt, it could be fake.
6. If it's a new bag and the bag's handle is a different color leather than that of the piping, it's fake.
7. If the dust cover has rounded edges and/or it doesn't come with a dust cover, it's fake.
8. If the bag has a hanging tag (of any type) or a bright yellow tag or envelope, it's definitely a fake.

I have a Louis collection and yours sounds like it's doing a little too much advertising LV to be an authentic bag. The most recent Louis Vuitton I bought was made in the USA. I know for a fact all my purses are real because I only buy them from the real Louis Vuitton stores.
Here are a couple questions to ask yourself:
* How old are you? If you're too young and you don't have a history of collecting designer bags, it's probably not real.
* Who bought it for you? Do they carry authentic bags? Can they afford to give you one as a gift?
When in doubt, ask the person who bought it for you if it's real or not. Even if it's not real, carry it if you like it. So many people carry fake bags now because it's sometimes so hard to tell. In the grand scheme of things, who cares?

I believe that the purse is a replica/knock-off. Genuine Louis Vuitton bags to not come with tags attached to the purse with a piece of yarn. They never attach tags what so ever. The best way if you are anxious to know if it is authentic is to take it the LV store. And check inside the purse to locate the serial/date code, every authentic LV bag has a date code stamped inside the purse.

all of the good knock-off purses have all of those accessories as well. The way you can tell is usually on the snaps if your purse has any. Those little round snaps that hold the purse shut, They will be engraved with "LOUIS VUITTON" or some chinese company...thats the quickest way to find out. Otherwise, just give it a couple months and if absolutely anything is wrong with it as far as material and stiching...its a fake.

I'm gonna say that the first sign of having an authentic Louis Vuitton handbag is whether or not it came with a certificate of authenticity. If it was a gift and purchased at a department store fullprice, it SHOULD have a certificate.
Eventhough you aren't buying on Ebay, here is the link to a guide on how to tell if it's authentic or not (including pictures/examples)---> http://reviews.ebay.com/How-to-SPOT-fake-LV-LOUIS-VUITTON-authentic-guide-2_W0QQugidZ10000000000021466

you can actually find out on eBay. I wanted to know if my Louis Vuitton was authentic too, and I started typing in things like spotting a fake Louis Vuitton, and I ended up on eBay. they have an expert who's job is identifying fake Louis bags and she has a trememdous amount of information that will help you find out within a minute if your bag is authentic or not. so you might want to go there and check it out. you'll have your answer in just a minute or two!
Best Wishes

Definitely a fake because of this statement: "there is also a yarn tag on it that has L V on it and the tag says louis vuitton." However, if you like it use it :)

The best thing to do is take it to the store and they should be able to tell you. If you can't do that, one of the easiest ways to spot a fake bag is the leather, it should be thick and sturdy, if its flimsy and thin then it is a fake (look specifically at the handles). Its very hard to spot some fakes because there are some really really good knock offs that come with fake registration cards and everything.
