At least one supermarket in my area still has all the pet foods listed on their shelves. Wasn't the recall mandatory? Can anything be done about that?

Call the FDA and the ASPCA. I don't see why they wouldn't. They get all their money back. It's the manufacturer that has to pay for the problem.

it is not mandatory at all. The main reason many people do not pull these things off the shelves is because they get a fraction of the compensation for the product that they purchased. There is no requirement, but many do it just so they can say they do for show. I work in a medical industry where many products are recalled, but with certain lot numbers (period of time where the product was produced, a couple of hours to a few days) so they might have the food listed on their shelf, but the lot number may be different and have nothing wrong with it. You can usually find out by going to the manufacturers website directly and see if it was all of them or only a certain lot number.

The recall needs to be done by the company that provides them the product. If the call and give orders to take it off the shelves and haven't picked it up yet that's another story. Chances are, they may not know about this sitution, tell them about it and insist the manager take the product off the shelf... it's your right.

I work at a pet food store myself, and the companies gave us lists of dates and codes of the affected foods. Since none of our foods were affected, we left them up. We understand if no one buys them, and have been letting everyone know before they buy any. As mandatory-yes, it was mandatory to take down the affected product-these companies sent out this info themselves and did not indicate in any way that all food should be removed regardless if it's affected or not.

It's also possible that the products still on the shelves aren't from the same lot or manufacturing site. If you have doubts, then check with the store's management. I doubt that they would leave recalled items on their shelves - it opens them up to too much liability.

if you live in a small town inform them of the situation-maybe they weren't notified of anything yet- i mean why not pull they get their money back- so it must be the lack of information they weren't provided with-
