You take that from the quadratic formula. Look up quadratic formula and you knwo what i mean, i can't type it in here for i don't have a square root sign on my keyboard :o.

But to find the vertex, you must find a, b, and c first. IN your case A is 2, B is 5 and C is -4. So you take the oppostie of B part out of the quadratic formula, which is x=-b/2(a), which is x=5/2(4), which becomes x=5/4. That is the vertex, 5/4. Another way to think of it is 1.25 or 1 1/4. SO you would go down the axis of symmetry (which is the exact middle between your to x-intercepts) to 1.25. Then you would put a dot there and make a parabola. I hope this helped.
