My husband was overseas on bussiness. Me and my 4 children were there with him for 6 months we came back to the u.s and he contuined overseas for 6 more months my husband was still paying for all the bills giving money for his children. I found a job so my mom decided she would watch my children for me. She went and got temporary custody behind our backs we were not even notified. now my husband has came back we went to try to get the kids than we found out she had temporary custody by stating my husbsnd anbanded them because she was watching them for 8 months and he did not contact her to check on them but he was calling me to see how there were doing.. So my question really is if he did not contact her personally in the 8 months is that abandoment?

where are you ??? it depends on where you are and the laws there, here is WA st it takes 2 years before you can file abandonment charges
did you have contact with her ?
take in everything that shows you had contact with her and he had contact with you
get a lawyer and fight her you will win

Was your mom watching the kids for extended periods? Like week-ends or weeks at a time?
That would be abandonment. Otherwise no. I don't know what state you live in but first thing first contact a lawyer who specialized in family practice.

Your mother kept the kids for the whole 8 months? Is that what you are saying? If so then you both abandoned them.

No way that's not abandonment. Why would she do that? Your own mom. Were they spending a lot of nights over there? What is wrong with her
