Periods can be late for a lot of reasons, particularly in the teen years. Stress, dietary changes, weight loss... all kinds of stuff can do it. But since she's been sexually active, yes, her first step should be a pregnancy test.

Her mom doesn't need to know she's taking the test: they can be bought for ~$10 at any drug or grocery store (look in the family planning aisle with the condoms). If she follows the directions correctly, she should be able to get a good idea of what's going on by the time her period is late (and FYI, it's a good idea to note the first day of each period on the calendar. That way you know when to expect the next one).

If she is indeed pregnant, it's best to know soon. If she's going to terminate (have an abortion) it's a lot less of an issue the earlier she does it. And if she decides to continue with the pregnancy, she should start doing the good mom-to-be things, like not drinking and taking prenatal vitamins. Stuff like that is *vital* in early pregnancy.

If she's not pregnant, you two may wish to take this as a valuable lesson and look into improving your methods of birth control. The link below is for Planned Parenthood... their services are low cost, and completely confidential, and they can give you good advice on avoiding pregnancy.

You don't have a choice she needs to take a test. You two decided you were old enough to have a sexual relationship. That means you were ready to deal with the consequences that you could make a baby.

If she is pregnant she needs to be seeing a doctor to make sure both she and the baby are OK. Being young you need the support of your families, so facing the problem is better than running from it. It will just prolong things and how do you think her mother would feel to find out she is pregnant when she starts to show. Then also find out she has had no medical help. Parents don't usually kill their kids over this kind of stuff. They may be mad or disappointed, but life goes on.

If she is not pregnant there may be something medically wrong with her. Things that if they are diagnosed early can be cured. She could be putting her future ability to have children at risk. It also could be something medically simple that talking with a doctor can help.

Go to the dollar store get a test and take it.

Stress and illness can cause a period to be late. One thing though if were not ready for an accidental pregnancy you should not be having intercourse. There are so many other things you can do sexually without having intercourse. Since you have now had this big scare try things like mutual masturbation or oral sex instead of intercourse from here on in. For now she needs to take a pregnancy test just to be sure one way or the other.

I'm glad you're concerned for your girlfriends health. She needs to take a pregnancy test ASAP and see the OB/GYN immediately. If it's not regular for her to miss periods, I would be concerned. No knowing won't allow you to make the decisions you need to make and putting things off will only make things worse and more stressfull.
