I hate to give the bastard credit for anything, but my ex had a huge impact on me. Five years of abusive bullcrap later, I came away a far stronger and better person than I was or ever thought I could be. Owing to my experience with him, I'm quite confident now that I can face whatever life throws at me and get through it okay, because I've been through worse.

It was a co-worker at the beginning of my work life. He encourage me to obtain additional education. He had confidence in me. He helped me achieve goals that I only had dreams about obtaining. He was a life-long friend. He died last year, and I miss him very much.
