Using "axe" instead of "ask". Drives me nuts. And since it's an Expression of Color, and I'm like, a white guy or something, I have to bite my tongue and *not* say what's on my mind:
"Whoawhoa, Hold It! The *word* you are looking for is spelled A-S-K, right? As in, no letter "x" is present, ok? You *do get this* right? You do know how to talk without sounding retarded, right? Tell you what.....don't "axe" me any more questions unless you *have one*, all right? Don't even talk to me about "axing" unless you clearly have a hatchet at least! Because that behavior is *tempting me* to buy one for myself for my own safety, all right??"
And don't even get me started on "going chopping" at the mall, ok? O_O I spent a couple of my high school years out in California, around enough Mexicans who would "go chopping" that well....yeah....I've heard *that one* too, a fair bit. Like. Totally. I'm sure. O_O
Blah....sometimes it *sucks* to be caucasian in the 21st century, right? Granted, some of the karma is long overdue, but still....

Oh, I hate that too!
An expression I hate (which I heard several times today) is "period of time".... hello? That's redundant!
To trouty42 below: "Irregardless" IS a word - It's just a non-standard english word, but a word nonetheless. Wooglemorfen is a word.

I hate it when people say "Seriously!" just because characters on Grey's Anatomy say it. Of course, I also happen to say "Seriously!" a lot; however, I started saying it before Grey's Anatomy came on, so even though it annoys me, it doesn't really count. Ok, it so does!

When I ask a person "How are you?" and he/she says, "Pretty good." That should be "Pretty WELL," but most people don't seem to remember that!

When people say "irregardless" - it should just be "regardless" - irregardless isn't a word.
