i know that 5% of couples reach their 50th anniversary according to the census.

Less than 10%. 8 out of 10 marriages end in divorce...so that leaves 20%. And 50% of all men or women will die before the age of 75 (meaning they were at least 15 years old when they married which wasn't uncommon years ago) so that leaves 10% or less.

I don't know the percentage, but it would be LOW, in part because most people don’t live long enough to reach that milestone (and then there is the HUGE divorce rate, too).

Let’s say a couple marries when they’re both 20-years-old (which I personally think is young, but it’s reasonable), in order to reach their 60th wedding anniversary, they would both have to live to be 80. The average life expectancy in the U.S. is 77.
