It's a Asylum GeForce 5200FX 256MB AGP card.

The screen is black after I insert the card in the AGP slot and start the computer, but when I remove it and cut the computer back on, the screen is fine.

if your motherboard has on-board video, disable it. some boards have a jumper to disable it, but most just have a bios option. if you never get video at all, even at post, you might have a defective card. try it in a different machine. if you get video at first but when it loads windows it turns off, boot into safe mode by pressing f8 when the machine starts to boot, and uninstall the video card from the device manager. then shut the computer down, install the new card, and windows will boot.

Does the machine you installed the card in have onboard video? Many computers come with the graphics built into the motherboard, and this needs to be disabled in the BIOS before you will be able to utilize the new video card. Hope this helps.

Hi. I'll be naive and ask if you switched the connection to the card before booting.
