I know it depends on what temp its on and how long it runs for the total bill. I'm trying to find out what pulls more kilowatts just to start.

These two things hog your home electricity and electricity bill! What can help you reduce the costs? If you live in an apartment or home where the heat is supplied by water heaters this really helps reduce the heating bill (those electric flour heaters hog a lot of electricity because the metal they contain is not as conductive as other metals like copper, gold, aluminium and others so it requires far more electrons to move through the metal in order to produce the heat while racking up your heating bill! Likewise, air conditioners require freon and a lot or electricity in order to pump out all the humid air in your home. If you live in a dry hot area, like Texas, you can save a lot of money by purchasing what is called a swap cooler- this uses little electricity and cold ice water to cool your home- just like putting ice water on your skin on a hot day! As for your question, it really depends on how much you use your air conditioner in the summer versus your heater in the winter! If I had to guess, I would say that electric heaters use more electricity then air conditioners on average!

to general to say for sure but heat pumps are equal to electric heat if they operate with the same volts and amps..air conditioning is different you only use it for a small part of the ear and only when you need it. You need to give the volts and amps for each thing and the amount of time you will use it. Then it is a matter of math.

Dpends on what style of each you have. A warmth pump is quite effective, yet around right here you're greater probable to have electric powered wall warmers. commonplace air is exceptionally costly to run, yet around right here all it incredibly is typically required is a window unit or swamp cooler. no you will say based on the climate you suggested.

a heat pump is usually cheaper than electric heat

They should roughly cost about the same depending on the climatic conditions and if you perform the necessary routine maintenance to keep them operating efficiently.

All other things being equal, I would guess the air conditioner is more expensive to run. The system is more complicated- creating greater inefficiencies(wasted electricity).
