Innocence is, not knowing, it's love, trust, & forgiveness, It's bascilly just living loving & enjoying life to the fullest. Like a baby does. All while learning how to be not so innocent and not knowing it. Crazy huh? That's innocence..., If u have a baby, youll know what true innocence is. And youll love it!

The opposite of experience. The opposite of guilty.
To me, children are innocent. They don't have the life experience yet, they don't know right from wrong. They don't have the capacity for evil. Once they are old enough to understand right & wrong, if they choose to do evil then they are accountable.
To me, animals are innocent. They do not have a capacity for evil. Even when they behave violently toward other creatures it is because they are acting on instinct or out of self defense. They don't do anything maliciously with intent.

Perhaps it's for this reason that I feel so protective of children & animals & can not tolerate any cruelty done to them especially because they are the truly innocent ones.

In both cases, with children & animals, they have no intent or motive & are unaware and hence would fit the dictionary definitions.

Once you know better, do better.

For the rest of us, rational adult humans we are not completely innocent. Each of us has the capacity for evil. Even if it's a small infraction (white lies etc). We are so quick to point fingers at others who do wrong but often don't admit our own faults. As Jesus said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." & everyone let their stones drop to the ground since no one is completely innocent.

Where the law is concerned, everyone is supposed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. When you are surrounded by evil, however, you become cynical & start to fear that everyone is guilty until they prove themselves innocent & worthy of trust.

To me innocence means free from blame or responsibility.
The other definition should say naive rather than uninformed.

To me, It can mean either of the things you have listed, or any of several other things, depending on the context. Generally, it means the same things to me as it does to most anyone that speaks English .. including, sometimes, "Not Guilty." See the link below for some more of its meanings.

There's no such thing as "the" meaning of innocence, which implies it has only one meaning.

unaware is my definition. I read a book, cant remember the title, the person who wrote it said she lost her innocence when she began to feel pity.

Innocence as in naive is believing that if we just don't bother Al Queda and be nice , they will just go away and leave us to our MTV and Ipods in peace.
