PROs--> a poor attempt at establishing universal moral principles in our nations children + creating a sense of unity

CONs---> suppressing individual growth and expression through one's own convictions and beliefs, violating the establishment clause in the constitution (more popularly referred to as the separation between church and state, even though this is not explicitly stated in the constitution it simply states the government shall not establish a state religion).

There's nothing wrong with the statement.

What's wrong (unconstitutional) is if the majority who happens to follow one religion is allowed to impose that religion -- directly or by indoctrination -- on everyone else by making it part of a government sponsored activity.

The whole point of freedom of religion is that the government cannot compel religion. Any religion, not even the majority religion.

How would all those people who support prayer in school feel if the prayer was required to follow Islamic standards? Or was a prayer to the God and Goddess of the Wiccan faith?

Would they be as quick to require prayer in school if someone else's religion was the prayer being offered? Somehow I doubt it. And that's the point of the constitutional restriction against ANY religion being promoted by the govt.
