I feel so down and depressed but I don't know why. I always feel sad and i don't want to do anything, and I very often cry myself to sleep, but don't know what im crying about. I've tried doing things that might make me happier but it just doesn't work. music is a big part of my life, and I find myself wanting to listen to sadder music more often too, if that means anything. its hard trying to look happy every day, and i want to fix whatevers wrong.

It sounds like you may be suffering from clinical depression. Please see a doctor and tell him or her all the things you mentioned in your post. There are great meds available to help you get back to your normal self. I suffer from depression and anxiety also, so I know exactly what you feel. This is a real medical problem and it often taken medicine to fix it. I wish you the best of luck in your recovery.

You may be sad because of things happening in your life but if you don't know what's wrong then I am guessing it's what you eat. Drink lots of water daily, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, the more colorful the fruit the better it is for you, eat whole grain breads not white bread and avoid all pops, candies, brownies, and anything else with bad sugar in it. White sugar is bad for you and will give you temporary energy but will leave you feeling tired later, it's a simple carbohydrate which you don't want in your body. You want complex carbohydrates from fresh fruits and vegetables, eat lean meats and exercise daily. You don't have to do hour long work outs, just exercise a couple minutes a day every day and eat good foods. What you eat today is walking and talking tomorrow, so if you eat junk food you will feel like junk, if you eat good food you will feel healthy and energetic. What you eat also has an effect on how you feel, if you aren't getting proper nutrition and exercise then you will feel depressed. Many people do not take this seriously and don't think it matters what you eat, but what is your body made of? it is made of what you eat of course, so it makes sense that eating properly will make you feel good, just don't forget to exercise as well it makes a big difference. Three things to a healthier happier lifestyle: #1: Foods. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, drink water daily and eat whole grain bread not white. #2: Exercise. You don't have to run miles and miles for hours and hours, just do exercise for a few minutes a day or however many you can do, it will be better than no exercise at all and many people do not exercise because they follow these hour long workouts which discourage them. Don't do that! only do what you can do comfortably. #3: Think positive thoughts. Think about what is right in life, think about what is good and try to make yourself smile more, if theres a problem you have no control over then don't worry about it, worry will only make it worse but if it's a problem you can change then do something about it don't worry. I hope you find a way out of this depression and feel better soon! Just trust that eating good foods and cutting out the junk foods will be a great start in moving toward a happier you. I wish you well.

Well that depends, Is there something in your life thats bothering you right now.If so you need to nip it in the butt, quick. If you're in a bad relationship thats going nowhere then end it because you're just hurting yourself. if you're single then try gathering up some friends and hanging out with them.Go out on the town and meet new people that bring you that sense of adventure and excitement. Stop listening to sad songs and maybe try something new.something you never thought you would be into.Maybe it's just time for a change and you should try it before your depression gets to the point where you can't control it anymore. Also, Try not to stress about situations that much and remember that everything in life happens for a reason and in order for one to be truly happy we have to be a little miscerable at first.Otherwise we wouldn't know how to appreciate the things that life has to offer.so relax, go out and have fun. stay positive no matter what life throws at you.Good luck!

See a doctor ASAP, as you may need medication and counselling, which may take time to be effective, so practice for 20 mins daily, and whwn needed, the method at http://www.selfhelpmagazine.com Meditation room; try it out; mantra meditation; repeat: "easy". Tai Chi & yoga suits others. Work your way slowly up to 30 - 60 mins daily vigorous exercise, eat healthily (tuna, nuts & avocados, especially) and keep occupied. Many people manage to cope without medication, just using the above, but see your doctor if planning to go off medication. Tell your doctor if you use St. John's Wort, as it can affect other medication. Vitamin B, Omega 3 & Iodine drops are recommended by some. Don't overdo them!

i would suggest going to talk to a councilor or a friend that will sit and just listen to talk. I have felt really depressed before and the best thing to do to find out what is wrong is to talk it out with someone. Life isnt always happiness, but try to think of everything in your life that makes you happy, and that you are lucky to have (friends, family, pets, a roof over your head, etc). That has helped me also. Good Luck and feel better :)

A lot of people say that St. Johns Wort helped them out. It's over the counter and you don't have to go to the Dr. Everyone gets sad every now and then. I went through it... most people probably do. Depending on what genre of music you're in to nowdays it is probably almost unavoidable to listen to sad "emo" music. Just promise you won't be found in a coffee shop w/ a scarf and pants so tight your momma wouldn't want you to leave the house in 'em... ;-)

It sounds like you have depression.

You should share your concerns with a qualified counsellor or Physician , esp if you are staying active and that does not seem to work.
Depression can be clinical or episodic( meaning it can be cured when the stress that is causing it goes away. Clinical depression is more serious and my require both drug and psychotherapy.

You need not be alarmed in any event as it is totally treatable.

Good luck keep smiling and get help as soon as possible

Your melancholy reflects a loss in your life. You are grieving a loss, but what was lost? The grief process has become stuck in a loop. Is this a reaction to a real loss within the past year, or is it an unremembered loss from long ago? The loss of a dream (what do you want from your life?), the loss of an ideal (have you failed to meet your expectations for yourself?). The solution is "grief work" (search terms "grief work" yields many options).

What you should do is you should go outside. Go to the park or the beach( if where you live has a beach). Swing on the swings or do whatever! Listen to happier music and do something with your friends like go to the movies or to a good fun place that is suitable for you.

It could be depression, but it could also be the result of a vitamin deficiency or a unbalanced hormones. Don't give up hope, but please don't try to fix this on your own. Call your primary care doctor, tell he/she that you've been having these symptoms and ask for a full workup. If the workup comes back negative, then you can be referred to a psych. Good luck, know that you are not alone and you can be helped.
