The number of hours usually depends on how well I eat. If I lay off the junk food and just get a *little* bit of caffiene, I can make do with 8 hours....otherwise it's more like 10. It also helps if I have some tylenol or something in the morning because a) my bed is crap--and I lack the transportation currently to get a new one, and b) because my shoulders are crap from prior injuries.

The *big* thing though isn't how much time I sleep, but when. I've actually *been* to a sleep clinic to get this documented and proven, and it turns out I am a *really* light sleeper at night. I don't go into REM sleep--dream that is--until the crack of dawn. I don't get high-quality shut-eye until the early mornings.

So if you want me non-functional and incoherent, force me out of bed at 6 or 7 a.m., just when I am getting good sleep. Warning: this will make me VERY CROSS INDEED, and since I do have documented problems with dissociation, I cannot guarantee I'll even "be me" in the ordinary sense of the word. If you are in my grill at that hour I just *might* rip your face off just so I can get some sleep, and not even remember it until later.

Sad, and lame, but true....I do need some morning shut-eye and some caffiene in me to even get me as coherent as I am on Answers...which sometimes isn't very, I admit.

Thanks for your time. ^_^ Good Question!

About 5

That depends on whether it's a one time occurance or a constant state. If it's a one time thing, I have functioned on 2 hours of sleep. If it is night after night, I can function on 6 hours (sometimes 5, but that's pushing it) so long as I get to sleep in on the weekends. If I have to get up at the same time 7 days a week, I need 7 hours and prefer 8.

Um depends what time I fall asleep actually. If I know I have to be up a certain time the next day then I sleep early. I dont even know hw much sleep time I require. Id say 7 hours I guess. I can still go thro my day with 6 hours tho.

Well...for me, i can function anyway. But to function better, i either need to sleep 12 or more hours, or none at all. If I don't sleep, my system doesn't turn off, and doesn't need to "reboot". Then, i fall asleep easier the next night and get 12 hours of sleep or more, and it makes me feel very well rested. :] If I sleep the number of hours that is recomended, anywhere from 4 to 10, I'm DEAD in the mornings. I need about two energy drinks to keep me awake.

I can function on 4 hours of sleep...however, I will not be alive. I really need about 8 hours to feel alive and awake.
