Do you have a home wireless router ? If yes :-
What OS are you using. If you are using Windows XP. Then you might want to go through a wizard which sets up home network and enable File and Printer sharing.
If no router :- then cross over cable can be used. You can buy one from circuit city or radio shack. Just make sure that you assign IP address to both the PCs from same network. (say PC 1 - 192.168.1.1 /255.255.255.0 and PC2 - 192.168.1.2 / 255.255.255.0). Run Network Setup Wizard and enable file and printer sharing. Right click on the folder you want to copy and share it for network and you should be all set.
To access the other computer on network go START-> RUN
type "\\" and hit enter
Much easier way is to use USB flash drive.

Based on which OS you are running, it shud be easy (Win XP or Linux) to impossible (DOS) :-) to do this. There are hundreds of help yourself websites available. The transfer media ranges from wireless eg bluetooth, wifi to wired media eg. cable. You also have secondary media's like CDs, Floppys and of course the latest USB Drives, External HDD etc. Also, based on your comfort level, you could also remove the internal HDD and connect it to your destination machine. So my dear friend, you now have multiple choices. Use your free will and choose.
