No it depends on whether it is day or night. If it is day the sky is clear and so it is suitable for batting first. But if it is night the outfeild has a lot of dew which will have the team batting second.

It depends on the pitch and what team you are talking about! If its Autrailia vs Berduma and both captain should select to bat 1st and not care about the pitch becuase Austrailia is best team in the world and Berduma is the wearst so Autrailia would want to bat first to set a target like 350 and be sure there going to win becuase Berduma does not have a good bowling line up so then batsmen cant do anything! The Bereduma captain would like to bat first to make a target and try to stop Ausis make is even though the captain knows the score will not go higher than 150 :p! If its a match like Pakistan vs India then you are not sure of the result then you would like to see the pitch and if the pitch is for batting then You will like to bat first and atleast try to set a target to 250 - 275 in 50 overs so the other team will not be able to bat goob becuase the pitch has already been used! If the pitch is for bowling then you would like to bowl first and try the other team to not to score more than 200 so that when you go down in the field than the bowler would have problems because the pitch has already been used and you will be able to chase the target! Warning: Bowling picthes you cant really pridect because when you bowl alot sometime they get after 50 over even more better and sometimes they get wearst! I know all this because I watch every single match of cricket even though I live in Canada! I have the chanels!

Nope, never ..In one day cricket statistically there is no advantage to bat first ...coz big scores can be chased now, south africa and austrailia match is biggest example of tht. Batting first can cause a big disadvantage if ..wicket is wet ....in tht kind of matches becoz of dew ,bowlers fails to turn the ball...though in wet pitches outfield is slow but its easy to hit over the top coz ball is directly coming onto the bat.In dry and hard pitches it don't matters u bat first or second.

Statistically, 57% of odi played are won by the team batting second. And apperently this figure is even higher when played in West Indies. I read this article on the official website of the cricket world cup. The link is available below. Its quite interesting.

The pitch replaced into damp to boot to being bouncy on the comparable time. No batsman, I repeat, no batsman can bat expectantly in this type of wicket and it replaced into relatively a large sight seeing how Dravid and Tendulkar easily negotiated the devils even although they could not final long. although, that's the two real that the Proteas bowlers too bowled splendidly properly taking finished benefit of the devils interior the wicket, leaving no scope for any hazard. whether, the interest has purely started and permit's see what the SA batsmen can do if the wicket remains as that is....... I clearly have faith that there are some thrills yet to unfold in this interest!! The Indians are actually not from now on the 'giving-up' style of fellows to any extent further!!

I think there's a psychological advantage to batting second. It seems to be easier to chase a big total than to come up with one 'off your own bat' so to speak. I don't know if this is proved statistically, but it would be interesting to know.

It all depends on how good at batting you are, it would be advantagous to the team if you can set up a strong score....
