I've been looking into buying World of Warcraft for my new iMac but I don't know if it is something that will be worth doing. I bought Guild Wars when I had my PC and I was all excited to play it but it really let me down and turned out to be a game that was just way too confusing and not fun enough to play. I used to play Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition and I love the Role-Playing that is involved and WoW looks really fun but I would just like to get some opinions on the subject, let me know the strong and weak points of the game and tell me why you like or hate the game.

I would reccommend it if you're into MMORPG's. Personally I'm not, and I don't play World of Warcraft anymore, but that's because when I was little, the MMORPG to play was Runescape. I overplayed that game so much that I can't play those kind of games anymore without becoming serverly bored.

World of Warcraft - Pros and Cons
PRO:
- Simply awesome, tons of fun to play and plenty of things to do.
- Plenty of different game options (Role Playing, Player VS Player, etc.)
- Great Graphics even at lower settings

CONS:
- $29.99 for the original game, $40 every 2 months and another $49.99 for the expansion pack
- If you've played another MMORPG and got profously bored with it, this may not be the game for you
- A lot of downtime, usually later at night
- If you have a firewall, even if it's shut down, you will experience significant lagg while downloading an update

I'm sure there are more, but I've lost my train of thought, so that's all I can offer for now.

Wow no answers yet. But to the point Id choose wow, ive been playing it for two years now and its a fun game. It has great visual and a good story around it and there just came with an exspanison. Now i havent played guild wars before but once you buy it you dont have to pay monthly, while wow is $15 a month. If you do play wow make a character on Staghelm my main is a 67 warlock on the horde side,so if you need wow related help i can.

There are some people who RP in WoW. Most of players, however, do not and have probably never played a PnP RPG so "roleplaying" probably just means "killing stuff with my character" to them. My wife loves WoW since she tried Dungeons and Dragons Online with me and just never could understand all of it. WoW is a fun, simple game (some of the players will insist that it's physics-level hard, but it's not). When I tried it it was fun for about an hour at the most and is great if you have about thirty minutes to an hour to kill and no one with whom to play. Personally I prefer Dungeons and Dragons Online (I still play PnP D&D although not really the edition that the MMO is based on, but I get it) for a variety of reasons, but admittedly it isn't for everybody. In DDO : You HAVE to group or you won't really get anywhere; there's no "giant explorable world" as it's all about the dungeons; the dungeon environments are much more interactive and require a good mix of classes to succeed at everything. DDO really is an MMO version of of the PnP game. WoW didn't offer any of those things for me so I didn't really like it. It's definitely more of a casual game (in style of play), although be prepared to have a second job if you do play since it is a major "grindfest." I don't have a lot of time to play so DDO is much nicer for me since I treat it as a D&D group which gets together once a week to run a few dungeons. Also, I just didn't like the whole "kill twenty of those things and bring me twenty (blank)'s." It just seemed like a lot of busy work to me. As far as I know, WoW is the only MMO with a Mac version so it may be your only option if you don't have a PC. All of our opinions don't mean jack since you can try it out for yourself for free for ten days. Download it, play it, and make up your own mind. A TON of people play it so there is something there. It's not my cup of tea, but more of my friends like it than don't.

I'd say go for it. It's a really fun game, but you do have to like that sort of thing. I'm a total addict since i got it for my birthday 6 months ago. You can do lots of fun quest, or do battlegrounds, or just hang out and do some RP, go raiding, or a combo offcourse :) 8 races to choose from, lots of different classes, lots of fun, usefull and profitable professions.

The down side (if you could call it that, i personally thinks it's great, keeps most of the annoying types out) is that you'll have to pay each month for playing.

I hope this helps :)
(If you decide to go play WoW and ever get to Steamwheedle Cartel (great for RP) say hi to Miléa)

i play that game millions of people play it its an game with monsters and real people. im level 48 so trust me. its a great game but i guess it depends on what kind of games you like.there are 2 sides the alliance and the horde.there are different servers or realms to choose from and if you want to then go to the server Laughing Skull, create an alliance and add the charactor Atheos to your friends list by pressing o and click add friend. i might even give you some armor and wepons and help you kill monsters. i hope you enjoy the game!
