I really want a ferret but I got some issues. My parents think ferrets have a strange problem. My mom says that something is wrong with their butts, and my dad has a problem with their poop size. Are these actual problem or just excuses. My chinchillas both died on St. Patrick's day morning. It is very sad. :( They tried to get out of their little house at the same time and got stuck and suffocated. At least thats what we are thinking. Well, so we have a nice new cage, a ferret nation (two level), if you ever saw one, and we need a ferret to fill it up. I just want one ferret. I don't know about either a boy or girl but i dont think it matters much. I wanted a darker "standard" looking one because my dad has a thing with albino red eyes. Well can i get help with the poop and butt problem???

First of all...I'm not sure what "butt problem" your parents think ferrets have. LOL As far as "pooping" goes...ferrets have a very high metabolism. So basically, as the old saying goes, "You eat a lot, you **** a lot." And yes...ferrets poop a lot! They also have long excrement because of the way their digestive system is "designed".

Secondly....a ferret is going to need a cage that is at least 4 levels high! The two level cage you have is not suitable for a ferret WHAT-SO-EVER! Be prepared to spend upwards of 200 dollars on a descent size cage. Check out the following site, they have a very nice and large cage for about 120 bucks:

3rd...ferrets really do need to be kept in pairs or groups. Imagine yourself in a word full of ferrets. You would not be happy because there would be no other humans around for you to socialize with. It would be very cruel to expect your ferret to go on living with no other ferret to socialize with. :(

Ferrets take a lot of work and are expensive to maintain...please make sure you are really ready for the commitment. You can check out this website as well. It offers a plethora of good info on the little fuzz butts:

What alamahara said is true, but they also take things and hide them. Plus they need a lot of looking after too!
