Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)
The development of the ICT-based lessons is based on the expectations that:
The lessons are linked systematically to the topics or content areas covered in the curriculum and textbooks of science, maths and language at the secondary level. They span many curricular content areas and are suitable for supporting a wide variety of learning outcomes. In other words, the lessons to be developed should conform to the national curriculum.
The ICT component to be developed is meant to teach a specific topic or objectives within a lesson in science, maths or language. They are small and specific units of instruction for teachers to use within lessons.
The lessons consist of instructional activities, simulations, games, problem-solving activities and teacher-presentation materials and may use animation, graphics, sound and interactivity that will enhance teaching-learning process.
Through ICTs, these existing lessons are enriched and made more interactive using higher-order thinking skills
The ICT-based lessons developed contribute to improved teaching and learning processes and pedagogy, and should not support and mimic the traditional tutorial and drill and practice approaches.
The material developers know the skills and knowledge level required for students to start and complete an ICT-based lesson.
Their production is based on sound Instructional Design principles.
Objectives
The objective of the ICT-Based Lessons and Materials Development include the following:
To develop a framework for systematic integration of ICT into science, mathematics and language curriculum
To develop interactive ICT-based lessons in science, maths, and language in secondary level for use in pilot testing the ICT integration in the pilot schools of the CLMV countries
To develop the knowledge and skills of teachers in the techniques and strategies for developing interactive ICT-based lessons and materials based on high order thinking skills.
Good Luck....
