i think everybody saw what happened on st. patties day. but why wont the nhl suspend a star, modano was defenitly as guilty as tootoo because his retaliation was a two handed slash to the back? at least minor penalty.

i love good old fashion rivalry whether it be between the teams or the fans.i have to agree with you about the superstar suspension thing.i was glad to see modano get his 503 goal, even though i really don't like him,i think he is full of himself(after the remark he made about the usa hockey team,he said he was the only one to show up to play)tootoo shouldn't have punched the guy,i have seen far worse done this year with no suspension.the commissioner has to start learning a little bit about the sport so he can make some intelligent decisions.when i hear about dirty plays that a superstar makes and nothing happens it reminds of the hit that ovechkin made on brierre-where he skated across the ice to check brierre who was leaving the ice had his back turned and ovechkin put him thru the door head first, sure he got tossed out of the game but nothing else was done.someone could get hurt seriously from that kind of cheap shot, but they had built up the game between (as they called it )crosby and ovechkin.that would have hurt the ratings if he had gotten a suspension.a lot of this would stop if the superstars were at least penalized!!!refs put on your glasses

Plain and simple... Because when it involves the Preds, people don't care. For whatever reason people love to hate the Preds and their fans. Had Modano been in the box where he should've been, goal 503 never gets scored and people like Jim Lites keep their mouths shut! Oh and by the way, Jim Lites won't be fined anything either because his comments were made towards the Preds organiztion and not a beloved NHL team like the Leafs or Red Wings!

Anyway the bottom line is, had this incident been between another team the player (Tootoo) would not have been suspended even 1 game and this whole thing would have just been a highlight before a historic goal. Yes, call me crazy, stupid, whatever, but its true. People want the Preds to fail in Nashville so bad that they can't stand us! Just to give you a couple of examples, they've publically lashed out at our attendance this year numorous times saying Nashville doesn't deserve the Preds and they should be moved etc. Yet, they somehow manage to say nothing about the other 7 teams with worse attendance! Also, the Preds don't get a Nationally Televised game for squat! Funny how a team that's in the #1 spot nearly all year long gets less National games than the Panthers! Yes, call it a conspiracy theory or whatever but its true. Mike Modano got a no call because his actions were against a Preds player!!

The problem here is that Tootoo is a jerk, plain and smiple. Now I can't stand the Stars but after watching the video I didn't think that Modano's 'slash' was as bad as what Tootoo did. Modano reacted to what was a run by Tootoo (yes Pred fans, take off those rose colored glasses) and when R(something) came in to protect his star (something every team member does on every team) Tootoo suckered punched him. There is no evidence that a fight would occur, maybe one would have, maybe they might have just had a few words. Fact is Tootoo went dirty like the dirty player he is.

I was there at that game, and let me tell you Tootoo saw someone coming and if you ask me, I would have thrown a punch at him to. If Robidas had hit Tootoo, he would have been hurt. Agree, No Suspension. I just wish the officials and the NHL would give us and some other teams the respect that we deserve. As for Modano, go cry on someone Else's shoulder. I really hate that he got booed because he didn't get the recognition he deserved. Whaaa, ya big baby. He got the stupid net. What more does he want. Oh yeah, one more thing, Robidas should have been an actor not a hockey player. Ref should have called diving! He just hit his head on the ice. I love irony -- I really hope Trotz plays Tootoo the game he comes back against the stars.

Modano's slash was just a slash... it deserved a penalty. Players occasionally slash... they don't always get suspensions. They get a suspension if it looks like an outright assault with the stick... This has NOTHING to do with a all-star getting preferiantial treatment. It was what it was: a NORMAL slash; it should have been penalized but it was not. Get over it... or are we going to discuss EVERY slash now? or are you just going after all-stars?

People like the guy above me saying Modano can't take a hit doesn't know what he is talking about. Modano is a great two-way player and is recognized as such around the league. Start watching more NHL games (other than your favorite team) before you start making things up.

I watched Jordin Tootoo play as a 15 year old with the O.C.N Blizzard. Even at that young age, he was a target for the opposition. What Robidas did was attempt to start trouble in order to protect a wuss like Modano. Modano attempted a roundhouse backhand and then a vicious axe-like swing with his stick on Tootoo after the fact. Will he be suspended? NO. He is a superstar. I've seen too many games where guys take runs at Tootoo and not even receive a penalty for it. Good for Jordin for protecting himself. Mike Modano should be ashamed of his actions and try to take a hit like a man next time.

While ModAno's slash was worthy of a penalty, it wasn't worthy of a suspension but for that matter, the same can be said for Tootoo's act, penalty yes, suspension no.

Thank you for bringing that up, whether or not if he was defending his teammate, he could have grabbed tootoo instead of slashing him across the back with full force. Yes Tootoo should have been suspended for a few games, but Madano's offense was a suspendable one too.

Sorry, but you guys are out to lunch. Sucker punching someone cannot be justified by what the other player MIGHT have done. I know we live in a post 9/11 world, but pre-emptive strikes do not apply to hockey.

Hopefully Robidas' fate will be better than Jeff Beukeboom's who had his career ended by a Matt Johnson sucker shot to the head.

Tootoo deserved a suspension and that's what he got. Modano's reaction, meanwhile, was a on-hander to the back of the pants and hardly something that could be viewed as anything more than a 2 minute minor.

ok lets review something, one handed slash does not equal full force. I think it was a bad reaction to what happened and he should have been penalized, not suspended, but maybe a double minor at most. i didn't hate the preds before, i really didnt have beef with them at all but now i have lost all respect for the entire organization. I only hope that Robidas is ok, i would really hate to see another players career end too soon.
