Actually, I think one shouldn't think about the reason before going to war, because remember the man she admired started a war because he did not approve of his daughter's husband.

Think about the psycho-sexual symbolism of vampires. Being transformed, taking another's blood/life.
Also the ideas of vampire vs. werewolves (racial conflict?)
Corrupt government vs. anarchy- the secrets of the older vampires, trying to fight them.
