We had a month in Morocco and some in Marrakech. Plenty of accommodation at a cheap price. Plenty of hawkers who will try to take you to rooms you don't want- give them a wide birth if you can. Many travellers close to the main market -m great place to eat at nigh.
Morocco is a lovely place but be very wary of Moroccon traders and those who try to engage you. Everyone has a scam it seemed to us. For us they were the most difficult we have come across. . If you have done some travel you wont get caught out.
do you have the lonely planet or similar guide they have some great advice on accommodation- if not go to the lonely planet web page

Marrakesh is really a city that sums up all Morocco's spectacular North African elegance, view it with hotelbye . The city's title presented the main for the name of the nation itself, punctuation out that town's significance down the ages. Within the bustle of the town primary you will discover old and new clashing and blending, which can make some tourists very nearly dizzy. Snake charmers and smooth store touts equally compete for your attention amid a loud, vibrant bustle that encapsulates Morocco's vibrant soul. For many guests, Marrakesh's labyrinth Medina (Old City) district is the town's star attraction. The narrow alleyways certainly are a kaleidoscope of colours, scents and sounds. Is bound to function as sightseeing spotlight of your trip; along with the merely wandering is intended to busy maze.

When I travel around europe I usually stay at hostels for the price, but on my trip to marrakesh last summer I found out that accomodations arent nearly as expensive as they are in europe...I stayed at a nice traditional hotel across the street from El FNa square and although I dont remember the exact price I do remember it didnt hurt my budget as I imagined. Plus, around town there are a lot of accomodations that are prob cheaper than what i payed, but being tired i didnt look too much... One tip I would give you about morroco is , double check on price because they can be very misleading/pushy or try to overprice things just because of how you look, if u are a student, tell them because they seem to know students arent loaded like other turists...People are very proud of there ountry and are nice, most people speak french...by the way, be careful when buying water, make sure it has a sealed cap. I found kids trying to sell (very cold) but tap water in reused bottles. Need more info? let me know

Hotel Ali is a popular and very clean/organized choice. You may want to check here:
www.moroccosavvy.com
There's a good hotel search for Morocco only (you can't book from the site; it's just a search).
It's pretty easy to show up in Marrakesh during most seasons and find inexpensive accommodation.
