I'm a horselover all the way. I don't really need to OWN a horse persay, just work around them would be nice. I need them to be convinced. I get WONDERFUL grades and am responsible, most of the time. How do i convince them????

Why not volunteer with a local horse boarding ranch? They usually don't say 'no' to an extra pair of hands to upkeep the ranch, and if the owners of the horses gave permission for others to ride their horse while in boarding, the ranch may let you exercise the horse via riding.

No money spent, therefore, it's a more approving idea, to offer to your parents.

Try this, find a local stable and find out if you can do any horse work for them. Some barns might appreciate someone helping tack up a horse before a lesson or need help cleaning out the stalls. Convince your parents you can take care of your horse by actually working around them. Good luck!

Actions speak louder than words. Show them you are willing to work in exchange for knowledge. Go to a barn where the horses approach you politely, where the horse people are humble and friendly. DON"T ASK TO RIDE... Ask what you can do simply for the opportunity to be around horses. Offer to help clean tack, groom, scrub troughs, muck stalls etc. Be dependable and follow rules carefully. This will show horse people and your parents that horses are not just a passing fancy for you and that you accept the responsibility and committment that comes with them. There's a very good chance, if you go this approach you will be GIVEN opportunities.

Well... If I was your parents... there would be nothing you could do to convince me! Why don't you get a p/t job or do volunteer work for a stable if you love horses? Call your local stables and ask them if they need any help.

I am in the EXACT situation as you! lol Renting a horse is expensive, but if you just want a way to be around them, you could volunteer. That's what my parents said I could do.

(good luck!!!)

Tell them that you will do whatever they ask and will not make to them any trouble.
