if you have parental consent you could have sex with them. the state does not prosecute stat. rape offenders unless the parents tell them to

Why are you still in school at 19?
I guess your question kind of answers that.
Laws are made to protect the innocent. Anyone over 18 shouldn't even be able to date a minor without a parents permission.

"know a lot of 16,17 year olds who like and want to go out with me"

You can go out with them (as long their parents are okay with you DATING), you just can't touch them in a sexual manner.

EDITED TO ADD THIS AFTER READING THE OTHER RESPONSES:

“get the parents consent”
The parents consent to have sexual contact? Good luck getting that. But even if you get it, it doesn’t matter. A parent can’t give their child/their child’s boyfriend/girlfriend permission to break the law. It’s still illegal.

“If you want sex, then cross into Florida and have it”
And then you’d be breaking another law. You cannot transport a minor across state lines in order to have sex in another state.

EDIT TO ADD THIS AFTER YOU ADDED ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

“if you have parental consent you could have sex with them. the state does not prosecute stat. rape offenders unless the parents tell them to”

BULL. If it’s illegal, then it’s illegal period. A parent cannot give you permission to have sex with their minor child anymore than they can give you permission to go rob the local bank. It’s NOT the parents that decide if charges will be filed, it’s the state, and they can, and sometimes do file charges against the parents’ wishes. I know a young man (a minor) in GA who was charged with, and convicted of, sodomy for having consensual oral sex (no penetration, just a sexual act) with his girlfriend, even though her parents didn’t want him charged (someone else reported it after overhearing her discussing it with a girlfriend).

the law is out to protect them from adults who want to do harm to young women. The school year is almost over and hopefully you will go to college. There, women are over the age of 17 or 18 and you don't have to worry about it. It might suck to you now but you will be thankful in the years to come when your name isn't on the list or even worse getting them pregnant.

okay first of all if your 19 you are a legal adult EVERYWHERE so that is rape everywhere and second of all you shouldnt be in highschool at 19 and last what the F*** are you thinking !!! you must seroiusly be a pervert to let a 16 year old hormonal "i really dont know what to do" girl make up her opinion abut sex. you really need to think about this.

basically it comes all the way down to that if youre stuck, because the grownup, in a parked automobile someplace with a minor, in spite of if the minors shoe is off, you may legally be charged with statutory rape of that minor. it is a undemanding because it receives

Tough. It's the law. What is wrong with finding someone your own age anyway? Won't anybody your own age go out with you? Is that why you would rather go out with a girl younger than you?

Awww too bad.

Georgia's statutory rape laws are the worst in the country! There are two young men who are doing 10 years to life in maximum security penitentiaries in your state for the "crime" of getting b l o w j o b s from their their girlfriends, who were slightly younger than them. It's horrible and medieval that your state has laws like that!

well, that sucks because a 17 ear old gut could be with a 16 year old girl. either of them should be having sex though. wow, it's too complicated.

Oh Hush up. If you want sex, then cross into Florida and have it. Better yet, have sex in Alabama.
