Which is the mechanism that makes organic liquids and vapors produce fractures in a polymeric material?
Why does this happen???

Because the components of essentially almost all polymers are organic-soluble monomers. So enough organic liquids/vapors will start going into the polymer material and swelling it and eventually pulling the polymer strands apart.
