How sweet to recall bell bottoms. I wore them for sure and loved them, we would split the sides and add our own patterns in them. I never caught them in the bike chain as I was driving a car by 72. ouch! that is sure to leave a mark.

Yes, in fact I related this very fact in someone else's question of "most embarrassing injury." I'm female, was riding a boy's bike, got my pant leg caught in the chain, and the end result was I had to have stitches. Not pretty!

Yes I did. It really didn't matter though because the bottoms were so tore up anyways from walking on them. We used to take rubber bands and put them around our pant legs. It looked funny but they stayed out of the bike chain.
I had one pair that were white with purple beets all over them that I wore to church every Sunday. Oh, the memories.
This question kind of dates some of us doesn't it.

If you had your chain guard off then you were a hottie back then. Yes, I used to trip on the edges of my pants etc...but, weren't we cool?

That's why you stuff the right one in your sock, what was funny was walking in the snow with them and the bottoms would freeze up and look just like a bell....

Yes, and that sock thing never worked with me... I was barefoot all the time... ever get your toes caught in them? Seriously... they were long, and my toes would always catch... down I'd go.
Ah, I loved them so...
