Probably, but not necessarily.

The tests (both urine and blood tests) work by detecting the presence of human chorionic gonadotrophin (hcg). Your body doesn't start to manufacture hcg until a fertilized egg implants in your uterine lining; implantation typically occurs about 4-10 days after conception. But although your body starts to manufacture hcg when implantation happens the hcg levels won't be immediately detectable, even with a very sensitive test. In a healthy pregnancy hcg levels typically double every 48-72 hours in early pregnancy, so waiting a couple of days can be the difference between a "false" negative and a valid positive.

Two weeks is probably long enough, if you figure implantation probably occurred by 10 days after conception, still leaving you with a few days for hcg to build up to some detectable level. You should be sure to use one of the sensitive tests (for example, First Response Early Results "can" be used as early as 5 days before your missed period). If the result is negative wait a few days before testing again. Of course, the best thing to do is to wait until your period is late, but I understand that may be easier said than done.

For what it's worth, I've had positive results as early as 8 days after conception (using the sensitive tests -- for the same pregnancy, using some cheapo brand, I didn't get a positive test result until something like a week later).

A blood test would probably show an accurate reading...Depends on which home pregnancy test u take..If they are the early result tests then most likely...I took a test 12 days after i ovulated and got a big ol' positive....I used the "Answer Early Result"..Good luck!

My sister has a son who just turned one. She concieved beginning of June with him and in July of that year went in for blood since she was feeling sick. It was negative. 2 weeks after that, she tested positive on an HPT. If blood can be wrong, urine can be wrong.

I have a 5 month old son who was negative on HPT for a week after I was supposed to start. Some women are just different! Good luck!

yes it should show on the HPT pee stick since they usually show a few days after a missed period. You conceive about 10-11 days before your period, so it should show up. A blood test show show a weak amount of the hormone which will get stronger as the pregnancy progresses.

No, it is too soon. Your hormone level wouldn't be high enough at that stage. Most of the early pregnancy test will be accurate at 5 days before your normal period is due, but they aren't all fool proof. I didn't test positive until I was 10 days late. Good luck

Everyone is different. Some people don't test positive until they are almost 2 months along.....
