Ok, since i was a kid, i have been dreaming of going to the us naval academy and becoming a naval officer...

I'm a sophomore in high school...taking all AP/IB classes...
- I have gotten straight A's thru-out high school. (~4.15 gpa)
- two varsity sports freshman year and this year
- formed a club
-nat'l honor society member
-I have a sectional ranking in tennis...top 20 in state
-have a job,
-volunteered a lot
- IB diploma
HOWEVER, i got expelled from my old high school after freshman year for something stupid..(not serious, like assault, weapons, or anything)

Honestly, do i have a chance at getting into the US Naval Academy; provided I have decent SAT scores, and continue w/ sports...

thanks for your time!

I come from a Long Line of USNA Grads..i can tell you this much. That One Little expulsion may not seem so bad, when it comes who the Board decides who gets in,How many other
Designates are going to have an expulsion on their record?Probably not too Many..Just being Honest.Best thing for you to do? Begin Collecting Character Witnesses.Your Principal, your Pastor, your Best Friend, your Congressman, your current employer. These are going to be critical in your acceptance to the USNA
Good Luck

providing that your grades are good and if thats the only time you were in trouble and not in trouble with the law,i think they might over look your expulsion.!study hard for the sats,to look even better with a high score!and dont get into anymore trouble!i think you will be fine!and i am really proud to hear a teen do this well and want more out of life than most teens now days!!!GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY SAILING!

Want an honest answer?

Talk to a recruiter...then talk to a lawyer.

My understanding is that in order to make Annapolis, you have to be recommended by your Congressman.

The expulsion is a big black mark. However, if you can maintain that kind of GPA through University, you MAY be able to ignore that.

It certainly is possible. But you'll probably have to try harder than if you didn't get expelled. I suggest honestly reviewing the incident and making sure you've acknoweledged appropriate resposibility and remedied it as completely and maturely as possible. You're allowed to make mistakes as long as you own and correct them.

I can't say but if you come clean when you apply, they might give you props for being honest. But other than the stupid thing you've done, I have no doubt in my mind that you will get in.

I would say the only thing holding you back is the expulsion, but yeah with everything else good like that. They'll take you.

I doubt they would hold that one thing against you, especially with all the other attributes you could offer.
