Look the person in the eyes. It shows them you mean it.
Also, don't make excuses unless you have an actual reason.
If the person accepts the apology, offer your hand; if you're familiar with the person, dare to go as far as a hug.
Actually sit down with them and talk about the problem. Remember: eye contact.
Look at your body position and facial expression. You want to be as friendly as possible. Do not cross your arms, or put all your weight on one leg; also do not roll your eyes, or have an expression of doubt. Body language is 50% of communication; facial expression is 20%. Words, curiously, are only 10%.
Think about your tone. Do not sounds sarcastic; let it be sincere.
Give them some time before apologizing: "cool down" time.
If worse comes to worse, write them and a hand-written letter. A proper letter, so it shows you have thought things through. Hand-written, don't forget, because it shows effort.
After you apologize, don't mention whatever happened, or continue to apologize. Only one "sorry" will do. Just drop the subject, and try to make the situation between you and the person(s) as normal and comfortable as possible.
Now, of course, some people won't ever forgive you. That's just who they are. You have done all you could, and it's up to them now to accept your hand of friendship. Whatever you do, don't harrass them.

You could start by really meaning it when you say those words and you need to look them in the eyes when you apologize...and explain in detail the reason why you're sorry.

theres really no easy way to say im sorry to a friend exept sit down with them and then talk about the sistuation then say im sorry
